innovaphone Licenses V14
General Information on innovaphone Licenses

1. Information on innovaphone Licenses V13r3 (Licensing Guidelines)

These licensing guidelines provide a description of the innovaphone licenses. Get an overview of the respective license type, the technical license name, article number, the licensing itself as well as certain requirements and / or specifics.

Since the license type is often cryptic and technical, each license usually has a different product name. The name of the license appears in the headline and other documentation on our websites and in the sales documents.

These licensing guidelines are valid from software version 13r3. Other licensing conditions may apply to previous software versions (13r2 and below). Only 13r3 licenses can be bought or rented with the release of 13r3.

2. The Portal my.innovaphone

The portal my.innovaphone provides various aids to conveniently manage and structure contracts, rental devices and licenses. It is set up as a web portal, always available and can be accessed from any browser across the world.

Examples for using the portal my.innovaphone:

  • All bought licenses for the innovaphone PBX can be assigned by project. The licenses can conveniently be activated and bound to the respective hardware anytime
  • Conclusion of innovaphone rental and myApps cloud contracts
  • Conclusion of Software Service Agreements (auto SSA) and of contracts managing software and hardware rentals (Automatic iSC Reloading Service)

3. Software Service Agreement and Software Service Credits

The Software Service Agreement (SSA) allows a customer to receive free of charge updates (error correction) and upgrades (new software versions / releases) of the own licenses to new software versions that are released during the agreement period. Therefore, they do not have to be purchased anew. Exceptions are new features that are licensed separately. A Software Service Agreement is purchased for all licenses of a project with so-called Software Service Credits (SSC).

In order to ensure that a project has access to the latest software version, it is highly recommended to conclude an auto SSA contract in the portal my.innovaphone before initial use of the licenses. The corresponding SSC for the licenses are then always provided within the project.

For more detailed information, please refer to the Guidelines for Software Service Agreement as well as the General Terms & Conditions of innovaphone AG.

4. iSC (innovaphone Service Credits)

The innovaphone Service Credits (abbreviation: iSC) are the electronic payment method for innovaphone myApps Cloud and innovaphone Rental. iSC can be ordered via the innovaphone price list just like any other innovaphone product. Using the Devices app, the administrator can bind iSC to the corresponding device or instance.

For permanent use of rental or a cloud installation, it is highly recommended to conclude a contract for the automatic iSC reloading service in the portal my.innovaphone. With this recharging service, innovaphone will regularly check whether a sufficient amount of iSC is available on the account to cover the currently configured rental objects. The iSC account will then be automatically reloaded before the balance is used up.

The timing for the automatic reloading before the calculated expiry and the amount that is to be credited can be configured individually.

For more detailed information on rental, please refer to the General Terms & Conditions of innovaphone AG.

5. Central Licensing Concept (License Master)

It is possible to install innovaphone PBX licenses centrally or de-centrally if installations consist of multiple locations. Central installation means the licenses are installed on the Master PBX and then debited to all PBXs as required. This is the recommended type of installation as it guarantees utmost flexibility and clarity.

A de-centralized installation is also possible, but not really recommended. Master licenses cannot be used on a PBX when licenses are installed de-centrally. Mixed operation of a PBX with both central and de-centralized licensing is only possible in that individual PBXs may have licensing that is only de-centralized. If such de-central PBXs then require additional licenses, available Master licenses cannot be accessed.

6. License Version

innovaphone software licenses always include a version number (V13 Port-Lic, V12 Port-Lic, V11 Port-Lic). The software that is operated using the relevant license also has a version number (innovaphone PBX V13 / V12 / V11). It is necessary for a license to have the same or a greater version number than the software in order for it to operate this software.

Example:

  • A V13 Port-Lic can operate V13, V12 or V11 software
  • A V12 Port-Lic cannot operate V13 software

If licenses with various version numbers are put together in one installation, the lowest version number determines which software version (maximum) can be used for the entire installation.

Example:

100 V13 Port-Lics are added to a V11 installation with 100 V11 Port-Lics. A V11 installation is still the maximum version that can be used; however, it can have 200 Port-Lics (=100 V11 Port-Lics + 100 V13 Port-Lics).

If a V13 software was to be installed, the existing installation would not work anymore as V11 Port-Lics are still bound, and these are the deciding factors as the lowest license version for the entire installation. However, if the 100 V11 Port-Lics were to be removed, the 100 V13 Port-Lics could be used for the new V13 installation.

7. License Types

From a technical point of view, innovaphone differentiates between hardware licenses and software licenses

Hardware Licenses

innovaphone VoIP gateways serve as the interface to other networks and simultaneously provide the lean hardware platform for the innovaphone PBX and the work & communication platform innovaphone myApps. The various gateways differ according to type / number of interfaces and channels.

All possible hardware licenses are already included in the innovaphone hardware products. Therefore, there is no need to purchase any hardware licenses to use these products. Some devices, for example, are already equipped with a certain number of conference channels which can be used without any additional licenses.

Please note: It is possible to add (software-based) conference channels to these devices, if required. In this case, it is necessary to purchase the required software licenses (PBX Channels Licenses).

Software Licenses

Software licenses are version-dependent and can be allocated SSC to always ensure access to the latest software version. They are also available as cloud services and as rental versions (Buying and / or Renting Software Licenses) and can be transferred from one hardware platform to another at any time.

Software licenses are further subdivided into PBX Basic licenses, Feature licenses and App licenses. One special feature is the UC license, which encompasses a large number of UC functionalities for each individual user. The UC license saves time and cost, as otherwise each of these licenses would have to be administered on an individual basis.

The name of the license type distinguishes between the two license types by adding the prefix ’Relay’ for hardware licenses and ’PBX’ for software licenses.

Overview of the hardware and software license data

Hardware Licenses (already included)  Software Licenses
Hardware  bound to hardware - cannot be transferred from one piece of hardware to another  not bound to hardware
